![]() To rent equipment, first you need to be a member of the MACQUANAUTS club, and then all you need to do is contact one of the equipment officers to arrange a convenient time to meet at the gym to collect your equipment. Allow plenty of time between contacting an equipment officer and time when you want to pick up the equipment for this as they may not be able to meet you at short notice. If you intend going on a Club Dive and cannot transport a set of dive gear email me at [email protected] well before the dive with your suit size, bootie size and whether you need a full set or what you need. I can carry my set and 3 more so first in first served.
The cost of hiring a set of gear is $50 for a full set, or $5 for items like booties, mask & snorkel, weight belt, fins, hood, gloves and $15 per item for regs, tank, bcd's and suits. Tanks are rented empty and returned empty. Please bring your diving certification card. You will also have to sign a rental agreement form. A deposit of $20 will also be required to ensure the gear is taken care of and brought back promptly, UNDAMAGED and WASHED. Please be careful with the equipment because if there is any damage which is not attributable to normal wear and tear we will ask you make a contribution to repairs. Again because we are totally self financing. Perform the following checks prior to taking your gear:
You get the tank empty, and return it empty. If any of the equipment malfunctions please notify us immediately, and arrange to return it ASAP so that it can be repaired. You are also required to bring the equipment back washed. Washing instructions: To wash the equiment you should use first use a hose, gently, to remove excess sand and grass. After this a tub of water should be prepared. The regulator should be placed in first, with the dust cap on, and allowed to soak. The wet suit should the be rinsed, inside and out, then hung up in the shade, preferably as the fabric fades quickly in the sun. The BC should then be filled with a little bit of fresh water through the deflator mouth piece. Depress the deflate button and let water go in through the oral inflate mouth piece. Swish the water around inside then. Completely drain the water from inside the BC. Hang up to dry as for wetsuits. Remove the regulator from the water and drain. If there is any sand still in the 2nd stages swish clean these in the tub. NOTE: when swish cleaning 2nd stages have the mouthpiece of the regulator either up or down. Movement sideways with the regulator mouthpiece sidways may open the regulator valve and let water inside causing corrosion and a malfunction. Finally, rinse booties, fins, mask & snorkel, and the weight belt, and let them dry.
