Origin
It is said that the the Swazis are from a group of people called the Nguni that originated from Central Africa. In those days, they were like nomads moving from place to place, living off the land. The Nguni people eventually settled in different places and established their boundaries, the Zulu, the Ndebele, the Shangaan and the other groups. The Swazis initially settled in Mozambique, but moved and gradually settled in what is now known as Swaziland.

The Swazi were led by Dlamini and his brothers. Today, the Dlamini are still the main group and the king is chosen from the royal Dlaminis.

Swazi Nation Land
The Swazi are a peaceful nation and not known for being involved in wars, often choosing the peaceful option instead. There are many stories of Swazi princesses marrying the king of another nation to create allies. King Mswati I is the only king that was known for his fighting and he was called the fighting king. Sad to say, he did not live very long. Since then he has been succeeded by kings that have embraced people coming into Swaziland. This has not always been the wise choice as the Swazis lost land in various deals that saw most of Swaziland in foreign hands. This situation has been reversed since the Swazis bought back most of the land and it is now in Swazi Nation lands.

Independence
Together with Lesotho and Botswana, Swaziland was made a  British Protectorate in the big struggle for Africa. Independence was gained from the British in 1968. Our king, Sobhuza II at the time, regained his title as the King of Swaziland and the title of Paramount Chief died with the end of colonisation.
