Steven makes it to his father's side, but Holtz is dead. Justine is already there, and tells him that it was Angelus. When Justine says they can kill Angelus, Steven says no, it needs to be worse than that. At the hotel, whilst Cordelia and Angel try to find the right room for Steven, Lorn announces he will be leaving, off to Las Vegas, to start a new place, and admittedly to get away from Angel's new demon hating son.

Gunn and Fred report back to Angel, letting him know what happened. Angel doesn't know about Holtz's death, and so when Steven returns, he simply hands over the letter, glad to see his son back. Steven doesn't let anything show, and asks Angel to train him, and to show him everything he knows, now as Connor.

Lorn's final gift before leaving is a CD of some of his songs, but most importantly, advice, telling Angel that the feelings he has for Cordelia aren't just one way. At Cordelia's house, the Groosalugg leaves, and tells Cordelia the same thing, that she is in love with Angel.

Angel takes Connor out to a drive-in movie with Fred and Gunn. They have an excellent time, until Wolfram and Hart make an assault on them, but together, father and son are too strong, and they take out the attackers. Angel also finds Linwood in a nearby van, and threatens him, telling him to stay away. Connor does the same, telling him to stay away from his father.

Back at the hotel, Cordelia calls, and speaks to Angel. The two agree to meet up, to talk about their feelings. Meanwhile, Wesley and Lilah get in bed together, literally, Wesley showing no affection, simply darkness. Later, Angel waits for Cordelia at the arranged meeting place, but Cordy is late. It is now that two major things happen.

Firstly, as Cordelia drives along, time stops for the people around her, and Skip appears to her again. She is told that she is to become a higher being, that she has done all she can at this level. Reluctant to leave, especially after realising her feelings for Angel, she does accept, knowing that this is something she must do. She ascends into the sky, as if she were an angel.

The second major thing is that Connor overhears the conversation with Cordelia, and intercepts Angel at the meeting place. There the two fight, and using a stungun, Connor overpowers his father, and takes him aboard a boat crewed by Justine. They two of them bolt him into a sealed crate, and drop him to the bottom of the pacific. Before Angel is sealed though, he tells Connor that one day he will learn the truth, but that he should feel no guilt, Angel forgives him.
