Cordelia is shocked to find that Lorn is still alive, as his head starts talking. Meanwhile, Wesley and Gunn, despite being near to execution, help defend their cow captors from an onslaught of demons. Afterwards they are treated as heros, and made leaders for an assault on the castle. Angel and Fred are also attacked, with three demons going after the vampire. Angel manages to avoid turning vamp, and defeats his opponents. He also learns from them about the Groosalugg, and of the fate of Lorn.

Knowing how much the Princess, Cordelia, cared for Lorn, the Groosalugg takes a risk to win her love, and moves Lorn's body away from the mutilation chamber. Fred and Angel then catch up with Wesley and Gunn as they make preparations for the attack on the Priest's castle.

Cordelia learns that if she mates with the Groosalugg, then her visions will pass to him. Just after explaining how much she needs them, she gets a vision of the Groosalugg being attacked by a fierce demon, one which we can see is Angel in his vampire form.

As Wesley, Gunn, and the other cow rebels storm the castle, Angel creates a diversion at the front, challenging the Groosalugg to a fight, and thus keeping the most formidable fighter in the castle out of the way of the main attack. At first Angel struggles, but is later forced to turn into his vampire form. Once there he almost tears apart the Groosalugg before stopping himself, struggling to turn back to Angel, and asking to find another way.

When Wesley and Gunn take out several priests, they find the leader ready to kill all the cows using the collar self destruct that they wear. Fortunately Cordelia kills the priest with an axe before this can happen. They then rush to the front to find Angel's fight just finishing. Cordelia jumps between them and announces her love for the Groosalugg, but now is the time for building a new future for this world.

Cordelia sets about helping the Groosalugg set up new leadership, with equal rights, whilst Fred and Wesley combine their knowledge to find a way home. Once they have done this, Angel, Gunn, Wesley, Cordelia, Fred, and Lorn, (now in one piece, despite having faced his family), travel back through the portal to Los Angeles, ending up in Cariatos. When they get back to the hotel, they find Willow, virtually in tears. Angel know immediately that it means Buffy is no more.
