Angel gets into a fight with a demon, and after a brief struggle, defeats his opponent and starts to leave. He meets Kate however, and begins to talk about what happened. He had stopped the demon on a train before it had the chance to kill a delivery man.
Oddly, the couple encounter Kate's retired father, who appears to be merely checking up on Kate, but Angel is more suspicious.

Angel's memories of his own father are stirred by Kate's family matters, and we are given a glimpse of Angel's past. It is apparent how much tension there was between father and son. The two never accepted eachother, and when Darla eventually turned him into Angelus, the result was that the whole family, and in fac the rest of the village, was slaughtered.
Angel does however uncover the mystery of the deliveries - a drug making demons stronger and more aggressive. Kate's father gets caught in this, and is killed by vampires before Angel can get to him. Kate goes after her father's killers and takes out the vampires. However, she needs Angel's help to take out the powerful drugged demon in charge of the operation.
