For some time, Cordelia's visions have been getting steadily more painful. A dramatic turn for the worse occurs however, when the visions appear to have side effects, physical manifestations. What Cordelia sees in her vision, actually happens to her, leaving her with serious wounds, scars and infections. Forced into action, Angel sets out to follow the visions, and soon aquires some curious items.

The Host tries to help Cordelia by reading her thought patterns, and attempting to track down the source of the visions. Surely the Powers That Be wouldn`t be hurting Cordelia this way? This thought turns out to be true, as the source is local.

Angel goes to Wolfram and Hart to meet with Lilah Morgan, an evil woman in charge of special projects. He discovers she is responsible, but can do nothing for fear of losing Cordelia. He is ordered to go on a mission for Wolfram and Hart, to break out a prisoner.

Angel travels to another dimension, defeats Skip a guardian of the prison, and brings back a mysterious being, who he is then forced to hand over to Wolfram and Hart, in return for Cordelia's safety. To be sure though, Angel takes out the mystic working for Lilah, so no more fake visions will reach Cordelia.
