For once, Los Angeles isn't having so much demon trouble, but in its place, "Little Tony" an L.A. gangster is creating mayhem, and leaving bodies everywhere. Kate aims to capture this guy, and asks Angel for some help. After locating Little Tony, Angel poses as a tourist, and goes over to have a chat. He stalls them long enough for the cops to arrive. However, Kate isn't easy going during the interrogation.

Shortly before Kate's father's retirement party, the department is forced to go to sensitivity training, presumably since the incident with Tony. However, from that moment on, things get weird as cops start opening up to eachother, and trying to get over their differences.

Angel realises that the sensitivity instructor is responsible, and tracks him down. Upon finding the guy, he discovers a cursed stick, the "Talking Stick" used in training. Contact with this causes the curse to transfer, making the users sensitive side appear. A shame then that Angel touches it, or not?

Doyle and Cordelia go to the police station where they meet a new Angel. They break in, making Angel feel very guilty, and discover the police have let the prisoners escape, including Tony. Kate and Angel are Tony's targets, and despite nearly talking for too long, they do successfully overpower the gangster.

The training soon wears off, and things return to normal, now with Tony stuck in jail, and no longer under the protection of Wolfram and Hart. Things don't look brilliant for Kate and her father though.
