After the loss of Doyle, Angel's connection to the Powers is gone. Angel goes to see the Oracles to plead for Doyle's life, but they refuse. His sacrifice must be honoured they say, and add that for every door that is closed, another will open.
A little later, an empathic demon, called Barney, comes to Angel seeking help. At the same time, Cordelia heads off to an audition, one that goes horribly wrong when she receives a vision - the new door has opened. Angel goes to visit Barney's home to find out more.

At Barney's apartment, Angel encounters Wesley, an ex-watcher he met before. Together they find a Kungai demon, which they fight, and then track to a asian part of the city. Here the Kungai is dying, its horn removed. Wesley tells Angel of many demons that have had powerful parts removed this way.
With the Kungai's final words as a clue, they figure out that Barney is responsible, and head back to warn Cordelia. However they are too late - after telling Barney about her visions, she is being auctioned for her "seer's eyes". Angel and Wesley arrive back to find Cordelia gone, but discover a drawing of a vision she had earlier.
Angel realises the drawing is of a famous sculpture at a local museum. They head to the auction there, and are just in time to save Cordelia. A quick fight gets Cordelia safe, and away from Wolfram and Hart who had just offered $30,000 for her. Afterwards, Cordelia frames her sketch to remember it saving her life, and of a reminder of what Doyle left her, his most precious gift.
