With Cordelia stuck in The Host's dimension, Angel tries to reopen to portal to go after her, but its energy has gone, and the hotspot is dry. On Pylea, Cordelia is captured by a local, and sold... as a cow! Having lost a member of his crew, Gunn says he won't go with Angel and Wesley when the manage to open a portal, as he feels he must stay to protect his friends. To open the portal, Lorn consults a friend to find a suitable hotspot.

Using the metallic car structure, Wesley believes that they can drive through the portal Lorn has found, and avoid getting melded into one being as they go. Before they leave though, Angel is threatened by Gavin Park, a lawyer who will play a big role later on.

Back on Pylea, Cordelia has a vision, and her keeper claims that she is cursed, something which is then checked by the ruling body of priests. Angel, Wesley, and now Lorn, who is willing to confront the world he thought he would never visit again, all prepare to go through the portal. Gunn arrive after a change of heart, and together they go to Pylea.

They arrive in bright sunlight, and Angel panics, but doesn't get set on fire. Lorn points out that there are two suns, so the rules could work differently in this dimension. Angel really begins to enjoy himself, playing around in the sun.

Lorn leads everyone to the nearby town, where they are surrounded as Lorn is branded a traitor. The four are captured, and taken to the leader of these people. As they are led in to be executed before the ruler, they prepare to escape, but then find that this person is actually Cordelia.
