As Angel deals with the crews first paying client, Spike turns up, looking for Angel, and promising two things for the vampire with a soul. Firstly, the Ring of Omahrra, a relic making vampires completely unkillable, and secondly, death.
Oz shows up, visiting for a gig, but delivering the ring from Buffy. Spike had put a lot of effort into digging it up, but Buffy had managed to get it to Angel, to keep him safe. However, Angel refuses to put it on, worried what would happen if he became Angelus again.

When Spike attacks, he has for once got a decent plan, and uses himself as a distraction whilst a second vampire uses a chain to capture Angel. This vampire then tortures Angel using hot pokers, sunlight and many more terrible methods, trying to get the ring for Spike.
Doyle and Cordelia are found by Spike though, and try to make a deal, the ring for Angel. However, Spike tries to take both. Doyle and Cordelia had expected this though, so Oz burts through in his van, keeping Spike pinned down while they take Angel away, but who has the ring now?
Spike leaves, hoping that his hired vampire, supposedly not interested in the ring, and Angel kill eachother now that this vampire has the ring. Angel, though injured, goes after the vamp, and fights in daylight, though hidden below a pier. He defeats the vampire by staking him, and then removing the ring by force.
Angel wears the ring to get home, and to watch his first sunset in over 200 years, but then destroys the ring, unwilling to take the risk of becoming an invincible bad guy.
