The Host, Lorn, comes to Angel's hotel, and tells Angel that the world will end tomorrow night unless he does something. He has been reading singers at Cariatos, and none of them have a future beyond that point. The first, apparently responsible, knocked Lorn out as he sung. Lorn and Angel track the guy down, and it turns out he is a physicist, working on a project to remove time from a point in space.

At the new Angel Investigations, staffed by Wesley, Gunn and Cordelia, a new case comes up, brought to them by Virginia. They have to go after a demon, which they do successfully, and then Wesley deciphers the full puzzle. The Aunt, Helen, was responsible for controlling the demon, and wanted control of the family money.

Unfortunately for everyone in the world, when Gene (the physicist) finds out he will be dumped by his girlfriend on their anniversary, he decides to use the equipment he has to stop time around him and his girlfriend on their final intimate encounter. This might have worked if it weren't for the intervention of Lubber demons who want the world to end.

Angel and Lorn arrive just after the apparatus is turned on, and thanks to the demon's begins to spread to envelope the whole world. Angel manages to unplug the machine though before it spreads to far, and the damage is reversed. He also takes out the Lubber demons who try to stop him. Later, he and Lorn explain to Gene the problem's he caused, but also try to comfort him after his loss.
