Several demons pursue a young man through the underbelly of Los Angeles, but Angel and Wesley turn up in time to save him. They need this guy to stand in court, in a case against Wolfram and Hart. After much convincing, the court case works out well, but Lindsey and Lyla at Wolfram and Hart are now out for revenge over Angel. The perfect opportunity arises however when the rogue slayer Faith arrives in town.

Lyla makes contact with Faith, and back at Wolfram and Hart, Faith accepts a contract to go after Angel. After Angel and Faith first encounter eachother in this episode, Angel goes to Lindsey to try and find out what is happening, but gets no answers there.

Faith wants Angel to start playing her game, and to do this, she kidnaps Wesley (and also hurts Cordelia). She begins torturing her former watcher until Angel arrives. When he does, the fighting begins, and neither seems able to gain an advantage over their opponent.

After time however, Angel begins to gain the advantage, but never lets himself turn. This way, Faith struggles to fight a being she knows to be on the side of good, and eventually gives up the fight and starts to cry in Angel's arms.
