Angel wakes up whilst its still dark after his encounter with Darla. He realises what has happened, but things aren't like they were when he was with Buffy. He still has his soul. Darla has saved him in his perfect moment of despair. He tells Darla to leave, next time he sees her, he'll kill her. Angel then goes to Kate after hearing her in distress before. Having lost her job, Kate overdoces, but Angel is able to get in to her room and rescue her. Darla on the other hand goes to Lindsey, where she is asked what happened. Lindsey promises vengeance on Angel.

After that, Angel goes to the Host at Cariatos to ask what to do next in his path to redemption. The Host is pleased because of the transformation but warns that his friends may not live through the night, and we know that Cordelia is already being held prisoner by the three eyed demons from earlier. They want retribution over the three responsible for killing their spawn.

Angel looks for his friends, and finds Wesley at his home. He rescues him from several demons, and then tries to explain, but is rejected by Wesley. They agree to go to save Cordelia, but things are very uncomfortable. At the offices of Angel Investigations, Wesley and Angel meet up with Gunn and explain the situation. They find a note from Cordelia, and follow her to the Sharp's house. On the way, they encounter more demons which Angel stops to take care of whilst Wesley and Gunn go for Cordelia.

After taking out the demons, Lindsey arrives to attack Angel, and at first seems to have the upper hand, but is soon overpowered, and Angel smashes his fake hand using the hammer Lindsey brought as a weapon. Taking Lindsey's truck, Angel goes to the Sharp's house where he finds all three friends hostage. He rams the house, and the fighting begins. He rescues his friends, but Cordelia certainly isn't happy to see him.

Later we learn that Darla has left, and Kate talks to Angel. She believes him about having an epiphany, and is thankful for him somehow saving her without an invitation. Angel then goes to Wesley, Cordelia and Gunn. They don't want to go back to him, but Angel stops them, and asks to work for them instead.
