Cordelia returns to find everyone at the hotel emotionally destroyed by the last few days. She and Gru may have had an excellent holiday, but now they are back to find Connor gone, Wesley in exile, and Angel lost in depressed thought. Fred and Gunn though are trying to keep things happy, and go off to deal with a client who has a sketch demon problem.
Whilst Gunn fights, Fred goes to see Wesley, and just like Angel, says she understands, but warns Wesley never to come back as Angel will surely kill him. Shortly after, Wesley is released from hospital. When Gunn finishes the demon, he meets another, but this one isn't here to fight, but to tell Gunn his number's up, his soul must be collected tomorrow.

Seven years ago, Gunn had thought he had no future. At the time, he knew nobody like Fred, and decided to sell his future, his soul, all for one thing. The collector from the casino where the deal was made is here because Gunn is about to give his soul over to Fred, something the casino can't allow.
The next day, Gunn takes Fred out for what he hopes will be the best day of their lives. If it has to end so soon, why not enjoy this day to the full. However, as the day ends, Fred senses something is up, and tries to question Gunn. He doesn't help her though, and breaks up with her, coming up with reasons that are extremely hurtful to Fred. He then leaves to head for the casino.
Fred isn't stupid though and realises something is up. She goes to Angel and tells him about the break up (despite Angel not knowing they were even together) and that Gunn is in trouble. Groosalugg tells them of the demon that came by recently with a card from Jennoff's casino. Angel realises that Gunn must have made the soul giving deal. The whole gang go off to the casino and arrive just before Gunn's soul is ripped from his body.
Angel realises he can't fight his way out, and so makes a new deal with Jennoff. Double or nothing, they walk away free, or he gets Angel's soul as well. They play a game, highest card wins, and Angel loses with a 3. Cordelia is ready to stake Angel as he will become Angelus, but instead, the gang fight their way out, and leave Jennoff in the hands of all those in the casino who owe him. Later, Gunn admits to Fred that he sold his future for a truck.
