With the Groosalugg apparently here to stay, Cordelia is worred about making things work, but doesn't want to lose her visions. Meanwhile, Wesley tries to get some more information about the scrolls taken by Wolfram and Hart in order to find out more about Connor. Following up on a vision Cordelia has, Angel is prevented from fighting because the demon they purue goes into the light. Groo is made to look like the total hero as he is able to follow and take on the demon. Angel is left to feel as if he is being replaced.

Gunn and Fred go to a stakeout, to check up on a woman's fiance who is apparently meeting with somebody else. They lose track of him, and it turns out that the tree they were meeting by is taking people hostage, including Gunn and Fred now. Whilst this goes on, Angel and Gru go to find a potion to allow Cordelia and Gru to get personal without transferring the visions.

Gunn calls Angel on his mobile, and asks to be rescued, with Groo's help, but Gru is caught by the tree in the same way, and his power absorbed gradually. Angel however, deliberately makes the tree take him instead by insulting the tree, and hitting Gru. When the tree connects with Angel, it dies as it tries to take life from a heart that no longer beats.

Later on, when Groo is recovering, Angel decides to help out. Despite realising he now has feelings for Cordelia, he sends her away, with Groo and some money, for a couple of weeks to get a vacation, some sun, and time off. He is then left with a new realisation. He isn't alone, he has Connor, his son.

The episode has a disturbing end however, as Wesley uncovers a new part of the prophecy. The translation he has on his desk, which he has been checking over and over reads "The Father, will kill The Son".
