After fighting a couple of vampires, Angel meets a woman, apparently blind, who has just killed a human. The woman, Vanessa Brewer is taken to court, but with Wolfram and Hart's help, is set free. Back at Angel Investigations, Angel is frustrated at not being able to fight Wolfram and Hart in court. He can only take them on on his own battle fields. Surprisingly though, Lindsey turns up, and explains that things have got too hot, he has been told that the woman's next target will be several children.

Together, Lindsey and Angel plan to raid Wolfram and Hart, steal vital files for this case, and prevent the children from being killed. Lindsey gives Angel the right codes and information, whilst Wesley tells Angel how to take on the relevant demons. Meanwhile, Gunn makes a distraction in the front entrance by putting a vampire inside.

All goes well, but two things happen. Angel decides to take some scrolls he finds in the filing room, an urge from within, perhaps linked to the Powers. Also Lindsey is held up whilst the firm performs a sweep. A fellow lawyer is killed for planning to leave with clients, and Lindsey is warned by Holland Manners. With the children at stake though, this isn't enough to stop Lindsey.

With the information they need, Angel goes after the woman, and saves the children. To defeat her, he has to stand still to stop her from sensing him, allowing him to defeat her. After this, Lindsey goes back to Wolfram and Hart, with files to keep him "safe". He made a decision, stood up to Wolfram and Hart, but now he has a promotion, he has found his place in the company despite this small lapse.
