Connor's arrival starts a fight, as Connor attacks Angel with projectile stakes. The Groosalugg, Gunn and everyone other than Angel struggle with the boy's speed, and are unable to do anything about him. Only Angel manages to stop him, but even then, he will not kill his son. Connor runs into the daylight, away from Angel. Whilst Gunn and Groo take to the roads, Angel goes through the sewers all in search of Connor. Back at the hotel though, Cordelia is worried by the new rift to the hell dimension. It is still open, and anything could come through at any moment. Lorn says he knows somebody who can shut it, and goes off to get help.

Outside of Angel Investigations, Wesley is approached by Lilah, she gives him a present, a book that mentions the different circles of hell, and that the worst is reserved for the betrayer. Meanwhile, Connor encounters a girl in trouble, she is being kidnapped by the drug dealer she often buys stuff from. Connor helps out, and a fight begins. He takes one of the attacker's ears as a battle reminder.

Back at the hotel, whilst waiting for Lorn to return, the Groosalugg and Cordelia stand watch next to the portal, but are knocked out when something happens - it may have opened again to let something new through. The next morning, Connor wakes up to find the girl he had met dead, seemingly because of the "medicine" from the drug dealers. Angel catches up with him at this point, but they are interrupted before getting to know eachother, though Connor does mention that Holtz, his "father" has called him Steven.

The drug dealers track them down, and start a fight. Part way through though, the police arrive, forcing Steven and Angel to make a quick escape. Angel takes a gun shot to save Steven, already beginning to prove new things in Steven's mind.

Lorn returns to the hotel with Mistress Myskina, somebody with a habit of disappearing and reappearing thanks to her meddling with time dimensions. She does however close the portal, but tells them that she can feel something more dangerous has appeared recently.

After the fight, Angel and Connor go their seperate ways, Angel telling Connor that he is welcome at the hotel whenever he wants, but that there is no pressure to do so. Steven then goes to his "father", Holtz, who is apparently the second being to have come through the portal.
