The man in charge of the special projects division at Wolfram and Hart, Holland Manners is out to make life difficult for people like Angel. With a close eye on his employees, Lindsey and Lilah, Holland has a large force arrayed against Angel, and is determined to make Angel dark, making his side in the coming confrontation less clear. Holland Manners seems to be looking forward to the apocalypse, and wishes Angel to be as dark as possible by that time. However, his trust in his own power, and that over Lindsey and vampires like Darla and Drusilla are his downfall. He is killed by Darla at a wine tasting evening.

However, though his life may be over, his contract with Wolfram and Hart means he continues to work for them even now. We see him in an elevator supposedly leading to the "Home Office", taking Angel to the place where evil exists. The elevator leads to where it started, Los Angeles.

His manipultion continues though. The ring Angel wore was disenchanted shortly after it was stolen, meaning that what Manners showed Angel may not have been true, but just a way of making Angel that little bit darker. However, this again backfired as Angel went to sleep with Darla, causing him to have an epiphany.
