Drusilla was sired by Angel several hundred years ago. The combination of having "the sight" - so knowing what Angel will do to her - and also the tremendous torture Angel and Darla put her through has turned her insane. She is strong, and mad, a deadly combination. Later in her life, she choses her own partner, Spike.
With Darla human, and Angel refusing to turn her, Drusilla is brought in by Wolfram and Hart to turn Darla into a vampire once more. She does so, and performs a classic ritual for her grandmother, bringing her back to team up once again. The two cause a lot of damage before Angel sets them both alight, forcing Drusilla to leave.
