Cania Gorge, weekend of February 15-17, 2002

Our dear friends, Ivan and Helen Webster from Brisbane, came to visit us to celebrate Ivan's birthday and our anniversary for the second year in a row. Do we see an annual "happening" starting? We had a great time together and met a young Danish couple at Cania Gorge Tourist Park, where we stayed in a "Villa". We fished the Cania Dam. (Don't ask what we caught.)
View of the lake from the top of the gorge The Cania Dam and Lake Cania is located just outside of Monto in southern Central Queensland. Reputedly, one of the best kept secrets for some time. We were told it was stocked with all kinds of different fish, which we never saw or felt. The Saratoga has been released here, and is a good fighting fish, but is virtually inedible. Couldn't prove either by us. Fishing here was quite enjoyable, since any day on the water is better than a day at work.
