 Objectives

         The objectives of this project are the following:

  • To attract scientific personalities and of prestigious foreign researchers in order to participate at joint research activities (organization of scientific manifestation with international attendance, experience and result exchanges etc.);
  • The initiation of some partnership relations with foreign similar institutions and the consolidation of the already existent relations in view of the long-term S/T collaboration by participating to joint research programs (work visits, visits and stages of formation/ research/ teach, human exchanges, elaboration of papers and monographs in joint work with high rank members of the international academic community, their publication and spread);
  • Scientific research promotion on themes compatible with the ones of some representative programs for the European research area (inclusive for the future FP7);
  • International correlation of research programs from the three partner universities, the spread and dissemination of S/T results and knowledge (by the organization of working scientific seminars with the attendance of the three partner teams, by the participation at sessions of preparation of project proposals for international and European programs, work visits at prestigious foreign universities having experience in European programs completion);
  •  Information exchange optimisation in the S/T community (by publication/ spread on the project WEB pages, in journals with ISI quotation or with large international spread, and in monographs of the results of research activities carried out by the partners; the foundation of an electronic journal.

     Locally C*-algebras are generalizations of C*-algebras. Instead of being given by a single C*-norm, the topology on a locally C*-algebra is defined by a directed family of C*-seminorms. Such many concepts as group action on a C*-algebra, crossed product of a C*-algebra by a group action, Hilbert C*-module, adjointable module morphism, group action on a Hilbert C*-module can be defined in a natural way in the context of locally C*-algebras. Besides an intrinsic interest in locally C*-algebras as topological algebras comes from the fact that they provide an important tool in investigation of certain aspects of C*-algebras (like multipliers of the Pedersen ideal; tangent algebra of a C*-algebra; K-theory) and quantum field theory. This book is meant to provide an introduction to the theory of crossed products of locally C*-algebras. In Chapter 1 we define locally C*-dynamical systems and their associated crossed products.  In Chapter 2 we introduced the notion of strong Morita equivalence for locally C*-dynamical systems and we prove that this is an equivalence relation. Also we prove a necessary and sufficient condition for that two locally C*-dynamical systems are strongly Morita equivalent. In Chapter 3, we show that the crossed products associated to strongly Morita equivalent locally C*-dynamical systems are strongly Morita equivalent as locally C*-algebras. A Takai duality theorem for crossed products of locally C*-algebras is proved in Chapter 4.
