| November 14 2002 - There was no better way to begin the 2002-2003 season than to play in the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, against the Memphis Tigers. It was also the perfect place for superstar freshman Carmelo Anthony to make his debut. The 'Cuse played horrific in the first half but Carmelo Anthony kept the Orange in the game scoring twenty-one of his twenty-nine points in the first half. Syracuse came out of halftime running and playing good defense lead by Sophmore Josh Pace. Freshman Gerry McNamara hit fourthree pointers to give Syracuse a five point lead. Despite the run, Syracuse then went cold scoring only five points in the final eight minutes in the losee to Memphis. |

| November24 2002 - The 'Cuse hosted Valparaiso in the home opener at the Carrier Dome. Both Hakim Warrick and Carmelo ANthony recorded double doubles in Syracuse's win 88 - 61. Anthony finished with 28 points and Hakim 15. Gerry McNamara hit key three pointers to give the orange a big lead. | The Syracuse Orangemen dominated the next three games at the Dome to improve their record to 4 - 1. Dec.3, Colgate was defeated 98 - 68 . Leading scorers for the Orange were Anthony - 27 points - Duany - 27 points - Warick 15 points. On Dec, 6 Cornell was crushed 82 - 62. Carmelo Anthony had a double doube, Duany had 13 points and Warick led the way with 20 points and 10 boards. On Dec. 10 UNC Greenboro was dominated 92-65. Hakeem Warick led the way with 25 points, Freshmans Anthony and McNamara both contributed with 15 points in the second half. |

| December 21 2002 - Georgia Tech visited the Orange for the first real test of the year. The Yellow Jackets were dominated. After a slow start the Orange went on a 48 - 7 run to take a dominating lead and never looked back. Freshman McNamara led the way with 25 points. Anthony had 24 points and 11 boards and Hakkem Warick contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds to the blow out. (PICTURE RIGHT) |
