| We have lots of questions we would like to know about you. We have added our answers too so you can learn about us. What holidays do you celebrate? How? Some holidays we celebrate are: July 4th (Independence Day) - fireworks Pioneer Day - celebrate pioneer heritage with parades Christmas - gift giving, special songs, service to others, Santa comes with gifts (if we've behaved) New Year's - celebrate coming of new year parties Halloween - parties where people dress in costumes St. Patricks Day - wear green and decorate with shamrocks |
| We celebrate:
Christmas - our Christmas is in summer as our seasons are the opposite to yours. We often have cold meat and salad for lunch or seafood on the bbq. Sometimes Santa dresses in shorts and a singlet with red thongs (you might call them flip flops) Easter - sometimes the Easter Bilby visits instead of the Easter Bunny. Australia Day is 24th January - lots of flags and fireworks. ANZAC Day is a day to remember our soldiers. We love to celebrate other cultures festivals too. What is your weather like? Our weather is temperate, which means we have 4 distinct seasons: spring (March 20June 20), summer (June 21-September 21), fall (September 22-December 20), and winter (December 21-March 19). As you can see by the pictures we sent, winter is snowy, spring is full of blossoms, summer is warm & green, and fall has colorful leaves. Our weather is called Mediterranian because it is similar to southern Europe. We have very hot summers and mild winters. It never snows. What foods do you eat? We eat a big variety of foods but pizza is a favorite its the most popular school lunch we have. We love to eat foods from all different countries. What is the geography like where you live? Our geography is mountains, hills, valleys, rivers and lakes. Our state is famous for the Great Salt Lake. Its water is very salty. We live in a suburb of our capital city, Perth. It is a 20 minute drive to the beach. |
