Each class in the school presents an assembly once a year.  We do an item that shows what we have been learning about in class - usually a song, poem or play.
What games do you play?
Favorite recess games are soccer, basketball, and tag. When the weather is bad we have indoor recess and we play games like chess, checkers, �Old Maid� and �Apples to Apples� (a word game with synonyms).
We play all sorts of games at school.  Our national game is Australian Rules Football.  We call it AFL or footy.
What are your favorite books/ stories?
We like a variety of books and stories but a class favorite is �Charlotte�s Web�. Do you know that story?
What is your music like?
Music for kids today includes �rock�, �country� and �hip hop�.
What are some ways you stay healthy?
We learned in our health unit to eat nutritious foods, practice habits of hygiene, rest and exercise. Our school is a �Gold Medal School� which means we have a special program for exercise. Each day at recess we run at least 2 laps around our playground track.
We learn about healthy food and exercise too.  We do "Huff and Puff" each morning - 10 minutes of strenuous exercise or games.  We are starting "Crunch and Sip" too - its a healthy fruit or vegie snack with water.
What important community issues do you care about?

The main community issue that we care about right now is our economy

What kinds of farming are done in your area?

Corn, pumpkins, tomatoes, sunflower seeds and fruit come from farms in our area
.
Most of the farms near us are market gardens growing vegetables and strawberries.
What industries or businesses are in your community?

There are grocery stores, restaurants, malls (with a variety of stores, especially clothing), book stores, care centers and car shops

How do you say_____ ? (any expressions typical of your country
)
Expressions typical of our country:
We have common sayings like "Don't judge a book by its cover" and Two heads are better than one". Do you have those sayings in your country too?

We use lots of the English sayings from around the world too
. We have lots of slang terms we use in Australia. 
G'day is short for good day
See ya is short for see you later
We also have some funny sayings like:
Flat out like a lizard drinking
What is your favorite subject in school?
We voted on this. P.E. and Math were the winners!
Do you have pets in your classroom?
Our classroom pet is a colorful Beta fish named Chester.
We don't have a classroom pet.
What school assemblies do you have?
We have assemblies for our festival like �Speech Festival�, �Spelling Bee�, and �Math Bowl�. Everyone in our class tries out and the winners compete at the assembly in our school auditorium.
