Away We Go!
Frist Trimester
At the end of this trimester your baby will weight about half a ounce and be 3 in long. The eyes move closer together and the ears also are in position. The liver is working and the kidneys are sending urine to the bladder. As your body adjusts to the growing baby, you may experience nausea, fatigue, backaches, mood swings, and stress. Most women start feeling better as the months go by. Just make sure to keep all your doctor visits.
Second Trimester
By the 26th week the baby will weight about 1¾lbs and be 13in long. Your little one will start to develop fingers, toes, eyelashes, and eyebrows. Around the 5th month you might feel the baby move. Also by the end of this trimester your baby will have all its major organs. During this time the risk of miscarriage has reduced. This time is when most women feel good and have the most energy.
Some people might say you have that special GLOW. You will notice your body's appearence changing in weight and shape. Your doctor will let you hear your baby's heart beat(this best sound in the world) with a doptone. Keep up the doctor visits as you have to go more often.
Third Trimester
The baby is still growing and moving, but now it has less room in your uterus. So now you feel the kick and punches more. Before the child is born it can open and close its eyes and shuck its thumb.
During this time you will probably be feeling uncomfortable. The case being you are carring a large amount of weight around. You also might feel the urge for things to hurry along and excitement. This is now the time to make sure you have your hospital bag packed and ready to go. Still keep up the doctor visits. Toward the later weeks of the pregnancy a pelvic examination will be performed to determine the dilation and effacement of the cervix. Your health care provider will also check for Braxton Hicks contractions, discuss preterm labor and labor and delivery procedures.
Labor and Delivery
As you await your little one to appear. You may feel scared and excited. This is very normal. If this is your first child your may want the doctor to tell you how long the labor will last and when it will start. Although the doctor would love to be able to give you this information, they can't.
When you start feeling to early signs of labor you need to make sure you have everything ready. Make sure you have away to the hospital, call your health care provider last-minute instructions. Because admission procedures can be time consuming, pre-registering at your place of birth before you go into labor can greatly cut down the time it takes in getting admitted. Even though every labor is different the stages and phases remain the same.
Recovery from labor depends on the length of the labor, whether medications were used, if a surgical birth was needed and on how well the mother coped with labor you will be moved to a postpartum unit in a hospital. Your uterus will be checked for firness and your lower abdomen will be messaged and amount of blood loss will be monitored. They will also check your temperature and blood pressure almost every hour.
