| Made of Crushed Granite The product we use in our Granito Fresco artwork is an amazing composition of crushed granite and polymers. Called SpreadStone, this trademarked and patented product was designed in Canada to handle the worst of environmental conditions. It's like spreading a layer of stone. The crushed granite and application process creates texture, and the artistic application of layers creates the unique appearance. Durability & Beauty SpreadStone is designed to withstand sun, water, ice, salt and foot traffic. We usually scrap our final surface with metal blades to create a worn look, and then we finish it with with an acrylic sealer. To protect the sealer, do not use metal tools or high pressure sprayers to clean or scrape it. While it is easier to repair SpreadStone than traditional rock work, with care it should only require a few minutes of preventative maintenance every year or two. Cleaning � For most surfaces, a damp mop or sponge is all that is needed. For tougher dirt of stains, us a mild soapy cleanser and a deck brush. For dark oil stains use a degreaser soap or a little mineral spirit and a clean sponge. Resealing � Reseal the surface the following year for follow-up maintenance. Wash surface prior to sealing with soapy water and a deck brush. Rinse and let dry 24 hours. Apply one uniform coat of Acrylic Sealer made by Daich Coatings Corporation. This is quickly and easily done by using a 10mm nap roller. The coating has a slightly milky appearance but will dry clear. Repeat every two years for preventive maintenance. Snow & Ice Removal � To shovel snow, use a PLASTIC SHOVEL. Metal shovels may have rough edges that could scratch or chip your protective finish. For ice removal, do not use sharp metal tools such as ice picks, spades, shovels, etc. It is ok to use salt or a salt substitute to remove ice.
