Hi: The name's Trinity, for anybody who doesn't recognise me--you know, from the movie The Matrix? If you know me, great--I'm guessing you're probably already a sci-fi fan of some degree--but if not, no problem...just buckle your seatbelt--because science fiction is about to invade your life!
How do I indroduce a whole genre? It's no easy trick, even if I love the genre (which I do) Of course, I, Trinity, am a sci-fi character, so you could say I'm a little biased.
So, let me put it this way: it may seem funny to write fiction about science (or involving future technology) but in a way, that's not quite the point of most science fiction. The point of a lot of science fiction is the human beings, how they might react, or think, or live, in a world that represents a possible future for mankind. Science fiction might also deal with the social or moral implications of a certain piece of scientific knowledge, or the development of a new piece of technology (like The Matrix, for example: what if we build AI?). Maybe that's going a bit deep, but the fact remains: science fiction appeals to our imagination and curiosity about the future, and that's what makes it so popular--at least, that's what I think.
