You Are Everything

[I wrote this poem for my boyfriend, Edward, shortly after he graduated from basic training for the US Army two years ago.]

You are everything I want and more.
There are so many things you can teach me,
And I'm willing to learn.
I used to think you were not my type;
I used to think of you as a good friend,
And nothing more.

You pursued me and never gave up hope.
I’m glad you did that.
You got to me in ways nobody else was able.
I am speechless around you.
You help me through my personal struggles,
And you never let me quit.

I was heartbroken when you told me,
The army was your chosen path.

I miss you more than I ever imagined.
But I am so proud of you.
I love you,
Because you are everything I want and more.

Him

[Another poem written for and dedicated to my boyfriend.]

His eyes
His smile
His hair
His face
His voice
His sense of humor
His intelligence
His family
His love for me
His entire existence

Without him, I would have no inspiration
Without him, I would go insane
Without him, I would be miserable, and alone
Without him, I would be lost
Without him, I would not be here

I love the way he inspires me
I love the way he respects others
I love the way he walks, and the way he talks
I love the way he looks at me
I love the way he holds me, never letting go
I love the way he loves me

What more could I have asked for?
I never imagined a love so grand

I thank you, Lord, for finding him
And bringing him into my life.
