On August 4th, Mommy had another appointment with the Doctor. This time, she saw Dr. Oken.
Mommy was weighed and found that she had gained another 7.5 lbs since her last visit for a total of 14.5 lbs altogether! This is a little more than average, but the Dr. said everything was still okay. Mommy's blood pressure was 104/70 and again this was good.
Dr. Oken listened to Baby's heartbeat again and said that it was around 160 bpm (beats per minute) - Mommy had heard that a heart-rate higher than 140 meant that Baby would be a girl. She hoped that was right in this case!
Mommy gave some blood for an Alpha Fetal Protein test to be done. She was told this test was done to rule out a few major disorders like spina bifida. A few days later, the Dr. called her a few days later and advised the test results were normal.
