On August 31st, Mommy and Daddy both went to the Doctor's office because they had an appointment for another ultrasound. They were extremely excited and had been looking forward to this day for a very long time. Because Mommy was 20 weeks and 2 days pregnant, the ultrasound technician was very confident that Mommy & Daddy could find out if Baby was a boy or a girl!!
Mommy and Daddy had been having dreams and thoughts for the last few weeks and both were pretty sure that Baby was going to show that she was a girl. And.....Mommy & Daddy were right!! Baby Turner is now Baby Girl Turner!!
Mommy & Daddy were told that everything else looked good. They got to see Baby Girl's toes and fingers and spine and almost every other part of her body. However, Baby Girl was being stubborn and wouldn't roll over. She wanted to look at Mommy's spine and nothing else. Because of this, the ultrasound technician said that Mommy would have to come back in a few weeks to have another ultrasound so that they could look at Baby Girl's face and get another view of her heart. Mommy doesn't mind at all - she's very excited to get to see Baby Girl again! Hopefully, Daddy will be able to go to this next ultrasound as well...
After the ultrasound, Mommy saw Katherine Kramer, the nurse-midwife. She said that Baby Girl's heartrate was 139 bpm and that was very good. Mommy's blood pressure was 110/72, which was also good. Mommy was weighed again and found that she'd gained another 5.5 lbs since the last visit, for a total of 20 lbs. Again, this is a little higher than the average, but Ms. Kramer said it was not a concern. Mommy was given a bottle of orange liquid to drink before her next appointment. This is to do a glucola test to make sure Mommy has not developed Gestational Diabetes.
