Being a Team Captain is an important and rewarding task.
The following is a list of commonly asked questions to which
you can refer when trying to keep your team informed. If
we have not answered all of your questions, please feel

Q: What are the event day logistics?
A: Our fifth annual Lupus Walk is
on Sunday, September 11th. Merlyn's
Rainbow: Lupus Walk for a Cure 2005 begins on Eastern
Parkway and Nostrand Avenue with the opening ceremony
at 8 AM and the official start of the event at 10 AM.
The finish line festivities will begin upon completion
of walk.
Q: Can family members and friends join my team?
A: Yes. Men, women, children, family members, friends
and anyone else are welcome.
Q: Can I bring young children? Strollers? Rollerblades? Bikes?
A: Children of all ages are welcome and strollers are fine; so
are Rollerblades. (We are
expecting a large turnout, so keep this in mind before deciding to bring
infants). Bikes are not permitted at the event.
Q: Why should I raise pledge money?
A: Raising pledge money is very important. Every dollar you
raise contributes to our fight to find a cure for Lupus.
Q: How do I turn in my pledge money?
A: You may bring pledge money to the Pledge Drop-off area on the day
of the event, or you may send money to the address listed below:

Q: When do I get my T-Shirt?
A: Walkers who register before August 12th will receive their
T-shirts in their walker registration packet sent to them or from their team
captain immediately after they register. Walkers who register after
August 12th are not guaranteed a t-shirt All walkers, however,
will receive a plastic wristband on the day of the walk.
Q: Can I
decorate my T-shirt in honor or memory of someone?
A: Yes, you can! And we encourage you to be creative. We
will provide free fabric markers on the day of the walk so you can
write in your own inscription. You can also tape pictures using
double-sided tape that we will also provide on the day of the walk.
Q: Is there a rain date?
A: No. The event takes place rain or shine.
Q: Where do we meet our team members at the start?
A: The Team Captain should coordinate a meeting spot with their team
members.
Q: Can we bring a team banner?
A: Yes, you may bring a team banner to carry as you walk.
Q: Where can I meet my team members at the finish in order to get our
team photo taken?
A: There will be a pre-designated general team meeting area where
you can reassemble with team members.
Q: Does my registration fee count toward my pledge collection gift?
A: Yes. The registration counts as your first pledge, but don't
stop there! Raising more pledge money means larger contributions to
the people working for a cure for Lupus.
Q: Is there a registration fee for children?
A: Children under the age of 3 can participate free of charge. Children
are encouraged to collect pledges to understand the importance of the
cause.
Q: Can we bring pets to the event?
A: No. Considering the safety of participants and spectators
when we walk, there will be no pets allowed
Q: Will there be refreshments at the finish line?
A: Yes. Complimentary food and beverages will be available to all participants
upon completion of the event. There will also be beverages available
at mile-markers during the Walk.
