Here are some merfolk you should recognize! ^_^
Here's the section on famous merfolk, though at the moment there's only one written about. Sorry about that, I will add more eventually, but right now there's but one mermaid who made it to fame.
Disney's The Little Mermaid, although it was nothing whatsoever like the Han's Christian Anderson story, bought mermaids their fame. The mermaid girl, as you can in the picture at the moment where she's getting a long lecture from her father, is Ariel, the youngest of the mermaid princesses. She has the most amazing voice of any of her sisters... if only she could show up on time for her concerts (My Vocal teacher would kill me if that were me!). =P She's quite a worry to her father, always wandering off, and having an unhealthy fasination with humans. When she gets in big troule for saving the life of a human who she's fallen desperately in love with, the first thing she does is turn away from her family, and set out to the seawitch to be turned into a human. For the price of her human legs, Ariel is forced to give up her lovely voice and is told she has three days to remain on land, in which she must recieve from her human prince-love a kiss of true love. If she does not succeed to do this before the sun sets on the third day, she will forever belong to the seawitch.
It's a pretty cool story if you're a Disney fan, but don't expect it to be anything like the original. It's got a Disney ending and plenty of fun songs that will get stuck in your head all day long. ^_~
Well, that's all for now! Later! ^_^
