What are Fairies?

This is a fairy... Look at this little childlike butterfly creature to the left. That's a fairy. Fairies are human-like (usually children or women) creatures with butterfly or dragonfly-like wings. They are usually associated with magical powers, and sometimes carry a tiny wand. They are generally small enough to sit in the palm of one's hand, and sometimes are as small as a thimble.

Fairies supposedly are born out of flowers. They are also said to sleep inside flower blossoms. Some fairies sleep at night, and come out in the morning, while some are nocturnal, and roam at night.

Fairies live in forests and meadows, because they love plants and nature, and can hide from humans within the thick vegetation. Some say that fairies use their powers to help things grow and flourish, and that it they were removed from their forest, it would wither and die.

There are many different myths about fairies, and many different types of them. If you'd like to see some examples of fairies, check out famous fairies . ^__^

This site opened 04/29/01 and is owned and operated by Luned Ketowisp with the help of Geocities. Special thanks to Sam for the HTML help, music, pictures, links, inspiration, and just all around encouragement. A big "Oinkmooquack" thanks to Claudia for all the dragon pics she sent me (most can now be found in the greeting card section). Thanks to Jeff for sitting with me in the computer lab so I wouldn't be lonely. ^_~ And thanks to everyone who visited the realm!
