What are Fairies?
Look at this little childlike butterfly creature to the left. That's a fairy. Fairies are human-like (usually children or women) creatures with butterfly or dragonfly-like wings. They are usually associated with magical powers, and sometimes carry a tiny wand. They are generally small enough to sit in the palm of one's hand, and sometimes are as small as a thimble.
Fairies supposedly are born out of flowers. They are also said to sleep inside flower blossoms. Some fairies sleep at night, and come out in the morning, while some are nocturnal, and roam at night.
Fairies live in forests and meadows, because they love plants and nature, and can hide from humans within the thick vegetation. Some say that fairies use their powers to help things grow and flourish, and that it they were removed from their forest, it would wither and die.
There are many different myths about fairies, and many different types of them. If you'd like to see some examples of fairies, check out famous fairies . ^__^
