Here's a rough idea...

I'd bet that's one See this big red lizard here? Yep, that would be a dragon. Of course, it's only the head, but you all knew that, right? Yep, dragons are written about in many fables and fantasy stories. Some dragons are portrayed as great beasts who toast villages, capture princesses and steal treasure (Smaug from J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit"). Such dragons are often the ones who belong in older tales, in which the dragon is usually killed at the end by a wizard, or a knight.

Okay, so maybe these two aren't so gentle... However, in more modern stories it seems, dragons are gentle, peaceful creatures (Falkor from Michael Ende's "The Neverending Story"). They are giant artisans who often play a part in helping the hero to the end of the story.

Isn' he CUTE?! Dragons are usually red or green. They're entire bodies are covered in scales, and they have webbed wings similar to those of a bat. They are usually very large, sometimes big enough to sit on small villages.

I'll never swim in an ocean again! ^_~ All in all, there is no specific way a dragon is or isn't. Some stories say that dragons fly, and breath fire. Others claim that dragons are huge serpents that swim in the oceans.

In short, dragons come in many shapes, sizes and colours, just like humans. There is no "right" or "wrong" way for any of us to be. ^_^
