Masai Mara + BBC Big Cat Diary Mara Dawn The day begins early for the Big Cat Diary team. At first light all the filming cars are already out of the camp and the search for the cats begins. At night it is not allowed to be in the Reserve so each evening the production team has to leave their subjects and then try to re-locate them in the morning. This is tricky especially for the lion team, since lions do so much of their hunting at night. |
||
| The Masai Mara is not just grass. There are areas, especially close to the river Mara itself where trees grow. All areas are being searched by the local trackers and the BBC cars to find the animals as fast as possible. | ||
Tash Breed was the field assistant on the Lion team. All cars and the base camp of Big Cat Diary communicate to each other via radio so if someone spots a lion, a leopard or a cheetah somewhere, the news spreads quickly. As we drove out into the plains, the lions that the team were filming on the previous day were nowhere to be seen. |
||
| Driving around the Mara is rough and keeping the camera still while in the car, driven by Tash was not easy at all! | ||
| My first ever Mara dawn shot. | ||
Now with something else in the shot...
