I was about to say how I was effortless for my schoolwork this term. I was about to say I expected bad marks. I was about to say marks didn't matter much, and in a few years, I would forget how much I got in a certain subject, as long as I get in the seventies.
...
Yeah. That hasn't really changed.
But I was certainly surprised today. Amazed. In a good way. My marks were higher than I expected. Much higher. Actually, this is just according to one course. ^^;; Why am I bothering to say this? That's because there's this one course, History, this term, that our group average was 75%. > >;; Now that's low? For History, yeah. Y'can't believe how high our last term mark was. ... Actually, I forgot it myself... it was something around 85% though, that I remember. ^^;; Why is it that low this term then? That's because we got this project we had to do this term that she marked strictly. Ah well, I just got okay on History; my mark was nothing extraordinary.
Anyways, back on subject. In what course my marks were higher than I expected? ... Want me to just let you simply guess? Nah, I'll tell you. It was math. My math enriched mark, to be more precise. ... ... I actually got a mark in the 90s!! ^^ Hehe, compared to my last term mark (which was in the 70s), I'm pleasantly surprised! ^^ Hope it'll last! If it doesn't... ... Well, actually, I don't know what I'm going to do. ^^; Yeah, anyways.
...
*big sigh of relief* ^^
I'm so busy these days. Most of the reason is because of the New Year. (In case if you didn't know, it's actually Chinese New Year today!) Busy with what? Well, mostly with visiting people. I'm going to be gone this week-end, well actually, I'll be gone starting Friday night, so that's why I'm actually blogging today, Thursday, instead of Friday night, like I usually do. No it isn't because it's Chinese New Year today, and yes I'm a good little girl who blogs every week... ^^
Yesterday, it was our music concert, meaning it was a concert for our pieces we did in music class. Now, our music classes are with orchestra-like instruments (excluded with various instruments like the violin) so our class is sort of an band/orchestra. Yeah, only very very very... beginner. Yeah, that's a good word. ^^ For people who ignores it, I'm actually a flutist in the band. Yeah, a beginner flutist that has only played 3 months. ^^;; But I'm actually not bad for a beginner! ... At least, I think so... ^^
So how did our concert went? As a matter of fact, it was quite good for a bunch of beginners. ^^ We were the first to pass too, and we were slightly late since we were supposed to start at 7:00 p.m. and I think we started at 7:10 or something. Don't worry, it wasn't because some people were late, in fact, we were all there on time at 6:30 p.m., like the teacher told us. It's just that it took us a longer time than previewed to tune our instruments. Now, was I nervous for the concert? Not at all. ^^; Well, I think it's because it's not like when I perform a piano solo in a concert because we're all this big gang so no one will actually pay special attention to you. ^^;
Oh yeah, it was actually also our music exam today. ... Now here's the strange thing... I was actually more nervous for the exam than for the concert! Is that normal? oO; ... I don't know, but I know I was nervous for the exam. ^^;; Well, my flute sound was worse than usual since it was more unclear than usual...but I did well for the other parts. ^^ 'Doubt the music teacher will give me me a high mark though... Since he's the kind of teacher who believes a mark in the 90s is too good, and it's almost impossible to get one (like our History teacher). I think he just puts a mark depending on his own opinions, and the mark isn't according to a charts table or something... That's what I think... Hmm, I got 80% last term in music. Wonder if it'll be better this term?
Speaking of music... I haven't practiced piano at all this week...
Oh yeah, since I'll be gone, I'll say it in advance... Happy birthday Kaithy!! ^^
Yuki made a wish on Chinese New Year Day (22/01/04)Yes, it's that time again. That time that I blog, yes. In case you didn't notice, I blog each Friday night (unless if I'm busy but I still would blog in the week-end). Yes, I'm a good and nice girl... ^^
So, as you can see from the title, today is a snow day! Again? Well, actually, I've never mentioned we had a snow day before, did I? ^^; Well, OK, last time, somewhere (yes, somewhere... ^^;;) in December, we had a snow day (meaning a day off school for the bad conditions of the snow), Monday, I believe, because there was like more than 30 cm of snow after a whole night of snowing, I think, and we got a day off school. ^^ This time, we got a day off school also because of the bad conditions of the snow, but it's mostly because of the freezing temperature. I haven't mentioned how cold these days are, have I? Well, I'm going to mention it now. This week was full of freezing temperatures, around -20 degrees without counting the wind... -___- (I got cold just walking from the library to my house...) Today, I believe it's even colder than the days before... or was it because of the snow storm yesterday night that we got day off? I don't even really know myself... oO;
So, since it's snow day, in my class, we're missing math, our first class. Yay! No complains to that! Definitely not! ^^ Please notice I've mentioned in my blogs that math is seriously boring. Oh yeah, my math exams are getting worse than usual... oO; Ugh. I had a lot of reading problems from the last exam.... I didn't read carefully enough. - - *sigh* 'Hope they'll get better~
Our second period today was music. Well, music class... hmm... we have this concert next week... We're supposed to bring our money for the tickets we're going to buy today... the teacher was really urging us! oO; Ah well, don't know if this is a bad thing or not... Well, we could consider it bad because the concert's next week and we're missing a course's practice, I guess. 'Hope we won't look so bad in the concert... ^^;
Our third period's Science Physics. Yay for this one too! Science Physics is boring.... The teacher gives us homework on stuff he hasn't even explained about and on the next class, we correct the homework and then he explains... The thing is, I understand when we do the homework, since I try to understand by reading the whole thing. Then I get awfully bored the next class because I've understood everything. Then you may say "Don't try to understand then?". But... the teacher explains so badly! I'm not sure to have to confidence to understand what's he saying... ^^:;; Also, another reason to be happy for missing Science Physics: I had this homework I haven't finished. Doesn't the teacher realize he gave us so many questions pages (2 end-of-chapter questions) for a two-days delay? So I didn't finish it... 'Was about to do it in the morning or at noon. ^^; Well, I could've finished it... It's just that I got blocked at the last questions...
Our last period's French. Well, French's average. I don't mind if we miss a class or if we do have a class. Well, we did have oral presentations today for a dozen of people. Lucky (or unlucky) them. How can we be unlucky if we miss an oral? Well, there was this girl there, who called me this morning to ask me if we had school, and she just said she spent all night preparing her French oral and she's kinda frustrated that she isn't going to pass. But... I think that case is for the minority of the people... ^^;
Yuki made a wish on 01/02/04*sigh* Yes, I'm already back at school...
Actually, nothing has really changed, apart from people dying streaks... It's just me who was really accustomed to vacations and not used to waking up so early... I so not wanted to get up Tuesday morning, first day of school. T T Actually, I woke up, and just continued laying in bed and rest my eyes until I wanted to get up... Actually, today was actually the only day of the week I got up and was actually not tired... ^^ Am I getting used to it already...? oO;
Wednesday at noon, we found eggs at the lockers. Broken eggs, to be precise. OK, let me describe it thoroughly. The floor was carpeted with egg shells, egg white, etc. Somehow, our locker (mine and Kari's) was the only locker on which the door was smashed with eggs. Yes, very unlucky, we know, no need to repeat it again. The inside was touched by some eggs too, but luckily(?), there wasn't a lot that was touched by it. There was Kari's coat's hood, scarf, mittens, and hat (not sure), my scarf (it's okay now), my English dictionary, and possible others. So yeah, we spent a little time cleaning our locker's door... -___-
Actually, at noon also, my stomach cramps become seriously worse. They actually never hurt that much before. Actually, I had them all morning, but they really became unbearable at noon. *sigh* After lunch, I went to see the nurse and she sent me home. Yay? Well, I spent my afternoon sleeping... It was nice. ^^ I really needed that, not only because of the stomach cramps, but of my lack of sleep also. Strange thing was, I still felt sleepy afterwards... ^^;; Don't worry, I feel fine now. ^^ But I actually missed an exam... I'm going to have to re-take it next Monday morning. Wish me luck!
What happened to the eggs then? Well, our poor janitor cleaned it up, (thanks! ^^) and Kari says it still stank Thursday, but I couldn't smell it. ^^;; 'Probably because my nose was blocked... > >;
Ah yes, what happened to the Schindler project? Well, we practically haven't done anything this week except today... We went to the library today to work... And did we really do anything? ...Euh... ^^; Well, we told ourselves who would do what. And that's we did in 2 hours and a half. Wasting our time? Yeah. We're going to meet Sunday afternoon also... And we'd have to work that day because our work's due Monday. Last minute girls? Definitely... > >;
What about the French oral? Ah, well, surprisingly, I already finished my French novel! ^^ Why such a surprise? Well, in case if you didn't know, I am a extremely slow reader in French... Seriously. Actually, the book's quite good! I like its writing style. ^^ Surprising, since I never fancied science-fiction stuff. I find them... too... boring, I guess, no offense. It's always about a bunch of machines about the rule the world and we have to save it or something. The plot's boring for me. 'Seen too much of the same stuff... ^^; And actually, this novel is actually a science-fiction book. So why do I like it? Well, the reason's quite obvious. It's because the book isn't about a bunch of machines that are about to rule the world and stuff. ^^; But the bad thing about the book is... It has too many questions unanswered! Since this is a book series... But there isn't even a "situation finale" (proper ending)! > >; I'll have to read it in the second book, I guess... but I'm afraid there's going to be even more questions unanswered and then I'll have to read the third book! Ahh! Well, I actually saw the second book of the series at the library today... It just came out. But I actually don't have the envy to read it...
Oh yeah, I think I'm in vacation mode right now... I just hope I didn't fail that math exam... T T Oh yeah, I borrowed "Wind Singer"! I hope I'm going to enjoy this series, "Wind of Fire"! ^^
Note: Yes, I've actually took the time to change the commenting to the top, as you can see, due to the many complaints I've received about my scrollbar being too slow...
Yuki made a wish on 09/01/04 Reaching the End of Winter Break...It's almost the end of winter break... *sigh* 'Might as well enjoy it... ^^
Right, might as well talk about what I've done this week, since I've mentioned nothing of the sort in my previous post.
Last Wednesday, meaning December 31th, a big gang of us went to Kari's house to watch "La liste the Schindler". It was for our moral project in school, since we had to chose a popular world-wide known person who made something positive in this world. Kaithy, Sai, LiL CLouDs and I decided to be in the same group for this project, and since we were all pretty indecisive, all the people we wanted to take were already taken (since no two groups were allowed to have the same person). We went to our moral teacher for some suggestions, and she actually gave one we would have liked, but some other group heard it, and while we were thinking about it, the other group took it before us. Tough luck, eh?
Finally, our teacher suggested another person which was Schindler, a man who saved 1200 Jews while World War II (I think @@;). Most of us were reluctant to take him, since we've worked on the Holocaust in English class, and did various works on it. We even had a visit from a Holocaust survivor. The moral teacher we could continue to think about it, and give our answer next class. So finally, we didn't think about it (how obvious) and we finally took Schindler. ^^; Later, we found out that Kari, Annick, Mindy and Nick also took Schindler like us. Coincidence? You tell me. oO;
So we, meaning the people in my group and Kari's group, met up at Kari's house to watch "La liste de Schindler", which is a movie about what Schindler did, since it would help us in our project. So what if we saw a movie? The thing is... the movie was totally boring. Oh, and violent (thinking of Kari). Yes, it was. It was plain boring-- no better word to describe it. Definitely.
First of all, the movie was in black and white... I think they did that on purpose, to let us better "live" in the past. > >; Oh, and we saw, euh, boring scenes, and until the point everyone couldn't understand anymore. Y'know, the film actually lasts 3 hours and 20 minutes! So since we got so bored, we started to play Mahjong. Actually, I've never played that game before, so of course, I learned it that day. LiL CLouDs kept winning (well, two times out of the two times she played). I actually won once, and it was the second time I've played and probably the last time I'm going to play in a long time. ^^; But yay, I actually learned how to play! ^^
Oh yeah, at one point there, we saw traumatizing scenes in the movie. Seriously. We left the movie running while we were playing Mahjong, and a few were kind of glancing on it, since there's only 4 who can only play. I had my back turned to the TV, so I really don't know what happened in the movie that made them so traumatized. And I don't want to know either, I'm quite certain. The only thing I know is that quite a few of them staring at the TV and getting traumatized... ^^; Finally, the first tape was over, and since there was two tapes to finish the movie, we didn't want to watch the other tape anymore. Don't blame us! It was boring, violent, and traumatizing! oO; Oh yeah, and our moral project... it's due the week after we come back from our winter break. We are so dead! And we also have this French oral to do on a book we are supposed to be reading... *sigh* So much homework! ><
Oh yeah, I went skiing yesterday! Yay! ^^ I don't fall as often now! ^_^ Oh yeah, for the next activities day for March Break, I was thinking of trying snowboarding... It looks fun! ^^ Except you fall more on snowboard than on skis, that I know. Besides, those that will be skiing the first time that day too won't feel out of place and clumsy, since I'm going to be as clumsy as them! Maybe I should try... Should I, or should I just get better at skiing?
