Chapter 2
Chapter 2:
The chapter where Dekar picks up Guy
Dekar entered Trebule only slightly tired. The monsters around here were weak. He once again wondered why the monsters got progressively harder on the exact path Maxim took but shrugged it off. God works in mysterious ways and all that.
Dekar saw guy practicing in the square a little ways up. The thing was, he looked depressed. How anyone could look depressed while snarling and viciously swinging a sword was a wonder, but Guy managed to pull it off. Dekar jogged up to him.
“Yo, Guy, how’s it goin’? What’s the problem?” He looked around a little, noticing something, “and where’s yer girlfriend?”
Guy looked at him sorrowfully, “We had a little… falling out.”
Dekar frowned. “Bummer. But hey, you two can always work it out, right?”
Guy shook his head. “I’m afraid not. I told her that I’d put it off as long as I could but that I needed to get out there and travel again. She…. Didn’t take it well.” He sat down on a nearby barrel. “She asked me to choose between adventuring and my freedom… or her…….”
Dekar winced. “Ouch.”
Guy chuckled darkly. “Tell me about it. I love her but…. But I just can’t HELP IT. I HAVE to go… and if she can’t understand that then… maybe she’s not the one.”
Dekar nodded solemnly. The silence lasted a little while before he spoke up. “Kind of bitterly ironic how I came her to ask you to go on a journey with me…”
Guy looked up at him. “Really?”
Dekar nodded. “Yeah. I was gonna go get Artea next. If you don’t wanna come though, I understand.”
Guy shooks his head. “No, there’s no way you’re leaving me outta this. I guess it’s just time for me to… move on. My sister is pretty self sufficient these days.” He sighed. “Let’s not hang around. I wanna leave as soon as possible.”
"Fair enough.” Dekar turned and walked back the way he came, with Guy following, only hesitating for a moment at the gate before walking on stoically, never turning back.
