Chainmail

Chainmail is an amazing material. Holding a shirt comprised of 46,000 individually hand-made and hand-woven links can be a humbling experience. Steel wire was bent between my own two hands, then locked together in an intricate pattern to form a panel which flows like silk. When it is in my hands, I cannot fail to notice how it refuses to lie still, it constantly shifts and turns as though trying to uncoil itself. When I wear it, it hugs me. What weighed 19 lbs. in my arms, is detectable only by a soft pressure clinging to most of my upper body.

Yes, I do chainmail for kicks. I'm not a member of the Society of Creative Anacronysm, nor do I ever plan to be. It's just one of those things that I do while I'm watching TV or waiting for the kids to finish lunch. I intend to post pictures of the things I've made here for people to see, that's all.

That said, if anyone has a request for some maille of this sort, please contact me. If you are looking for something specific but don't see it here, please don't assume that I wouldn't be interested in making it. Just drop me a line, describing what you're after, and I'll get back to you.

Some Interesting Sites
Before I forget I want to give you a couple of links. These sites taught me everything I know about chainmail, so once you've visited them we'll be on the same level of chainmail expertise.
Welcome to the Colluphid Armoury

Go check them out if you need advice or more general information. If you wish information on something I have posted here, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am always looking for feedback on the things I've made.
