Slow ride on a bumpy machine, or hauling ashes through the slums.:
We finally made it to the pier that the Captain intends to toss Flare’s ashes from. The trip was both long and rather less than pleasant. The van stank like a Romulan outhouse, and the local scenery was depressing with burned out and abandoned buildings littering the road. Makes you wonder what the side roads would look like, not that I care to look.
The only thing on the way that didn’t look like a world in decline was the collage, but from what we heard from the driver they were not up to date there, or were deliberately hiding data from the people. From what we were hearing, I’m inclined to think the latter.
On the way I decided that it was time to confront our drive about the pig men, and surprise! he didn't want to talk about them. He made a few vague references that it was a punishment for some sort of infraction but I couldn't even pressure him into talking. I should have shot his ass and tossed him off the pier!
I did have a few thoughts on the problem the locals have with the Federation. My spin is that the local government is doing a bad job, and is using the Federation as a scapegoat to keep the people from tossing out their corrupt butts. Oh, and their building was the most grandiose and well kept that we saw. Why am I not surprised at that either?
At first I was worried for Captain Lee. He had taken a rock to the head (again) as we tried to flee the protestors. I called K’Lynxyl and let her know that we had been chased from the foot of the starladder and the Captain had been wounded and was only semi aware of his surroundings. I also warned her to let the others know that coming down in uniform was a bad idea.
As I understand it she, Demian, and the bug were going to come down, run the gauntlet, and meet us at the pier. While waiting for them, I need to decide if I will confront this S’Varr that has attached himself to us. I have the time, but do I care what he wants enough to talk to this over colorful, over loud, and over Caitian person? I just don't know.
Oh, and Lee, I guess he has been hit in the head enough that a rock that penetrates a windshield on a van is just too wimpy to hurt him. He is now walking around like nothing happened. Damn that man has luck on his side!
