LAMBDA THETA ALPHA HOSTS GREEK UNITY COMMUNITY SERVICE
IN HIGHBRIDGE PARK, NEW YORK CITY

National Headquarters, NJ –The National Board of Directors of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. hosted a national “Greek Unity Community Service” in Highbridge Park, New York City on Saturday, July 26, 2003. Numerous Latino and multicultural-based Greek lettered service and academic organizations were invited, participated and came together on this day to give back to the New York City community by restoring and renovating this long-standing park in the heart of upper Manhattan. The National Board of Directors aimed to use this community service as a means to exemplify our organization’s strong belief in community activism and to further develop long-lasting working relations with the other premier Latino and multicultural Greek organizations nationwide. Nearly 100 volunteers were in attendance from all across the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan and Virginia areas to participate in the day’s event, and included a multitude of restoration tasks from 9:30am to 1:30pm. This community service was one of several events that took place during Lambda Theta Alpha's "Lambda Weekend" on July 25-27, 2003, a weekend dedicated towards celebrating Lambda Theta Alpha’s national accomplishments and nearly 30 years of sisterhood.
Among the list of co-sponsoring organizations are: Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc., Mu Sigma Upsilon Multicultural Sorority, Inc., Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc., Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity, Inc., Eta Omega Tau Sorority, Inc., Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc., Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc. and Gamma Ce Upsilon Sorority, Inc.
