Steve Rys poses next to the equipment after a very successful production of the THS 2004 Spring Music concert. Note the 5 inputs in the audio mixer- the XLR audio cord was borrowed from the NCTV studios for maximum production quality. Mission accomplished!
The core setup, focused on the infamous MIXER, a piece of early 1980's technology, designed for editing, that Steve Rys has ingeniously rigged for live television productions. Note the switcher box sitting on top of the mixer, which allows us to expand from only 2 cameras to a public access rarity 4 cameras with graphics.
Shown here are Steve Rys's infamous laptop, along with a VERY old computer that we use for cheap graphics. Also pictured to the right is the brand new $100 audio mixer, a terrific investment, as well as the evil 'Blue Thing,' perched atop the monitor. The 'Blue Thing' is a crazy invention of Steve Rys, allowing us to not only have a robotic camera, but also a bunch of random, blinking lights!
Once again, the core setup, including all 6 crew monitors, as well as Nick Lima's old style multi band radio, used for frequency tuning. Atop the VCR decks, one may notice the editing device used for instance replay and playback control, and, between the two main monitors, note the sandwiched audio-echo box, another new addition for 2004.
After the 2004 Spring Concert, Brett Dion stopped by (left), and we managed to snap a photo of him with the camera shy Andrew Munroe. Both freshman have contributed greatly to the crew in their first year.
Shown here is an early picture from the spring of 2003, when the THS Drama Club was putting on a production of the musical comedy, Anything Goes. Note the relative small size compared to just one year later in the previous photos. Also, in lieu of a graphics computer, a small keypad is in use on the mixer's right.
