Producing LSD is time consuming and takes an experiences organic chemist to do it properly.

First, the ergot fungus must be bought, as it is not native to the US. Then the chemical d-lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) must be produced from it. The LSD must be cooked for 2-3 days to produce 30-155 grams of crystal LSD, it's first form.

This may not seem like a lot, but 1 gram of pure LSD (crystal LSD tends to be 95-100% pure) contains 10,000 dosages, since it tends to be taken in amounts of 100 micrograms.
