I Am Going Home

The Wealthy Man

By Samuel Silvestre February 20-27

Ive tasted the life of riches and fame. I know the cost of being popular, having the world at my disposal. However, these things did not last. Why? Why have I been driven to believe this misconception of what life is?

While I was pondering this, a man came to me in a dream wearing a garment of stars and having an unrecognizable face. The brightness---the glaring light that reflected off of Him made my eyes squint to see Him.

He began to answer my question. He said Even though the life you have lived made you feel comfortable, you have gained nothing at the price of your comfort. And as I suddenly began to weep, He reached out His Hands and then I recognized Him. I saw it without any delay. I saw the marks on His Hands. I embraced Him and cried out for forgiveness.

Now I am left with just the clothes on my back and a memory of once having it all. Truly enough, my life has taught me that what this world has to offer is fascinating. It looks goodeven tastes good---but its not eternal. I would now choose to be mistreated, to be left here alone, and to be forgotten rather than to enjoy these pleasures of men for such a short time.

So, my new found commitment is to seek after that Man in my dreamsthe One Who holds the universe; the One Who has in store for me eternal Heaven. One day, I will see Him again. Will you?

Help Me To Remember

by Samuel Silvestre

I woke up late this morning

as the sun peeked through the blinds in my room.

As I laid in my bed wide awake,

The rays of sunlight helped me get up.

It made me feel fortunate

To have the assuredness that today would be a good day.

But also, it made me think

Of how it has woken me morning by morning

Just to spend time with me.

I ungratefully saved you for last.

I keep forgetting you're the reason why I live.

And like every grain of sand counts in the hour- glass,

so is my time spent with you.

Help me to remember.
