Part 2: Linkin Park Linkin Park Linkin Park!!! 9/19/2001

The Lights Went Down...

An enormous roar came from the pit,... it was deffening. The lights stayed down and the stage remained empty for a while, the suspense was building up and the crowd were getting louder. the chant of 'Linkin Park Linkin Park Linkin Park' could be heared, ad suddenly the first noises at the beginning of 'With You' were heared. We then realised that Joe Hahn had snuck on stage without anyone noticing. Another Roar. Slowly the rest of the band appeared - Rob, Brad, Phoenix - then another tremendous roar and applaud and screams as Mike and Chester appeared. still all that could be heared was Joe's DJing and the crowd.

The crowd died down a bit, and them BOOM, in came all the guitars, bass, and Mike's amazingly fast rapping. The moshing started, and I was amazed that people around me knew all the words too! the were ACTUALLY other people who also know every single word mike was saying! That made me happy.

It was soon swealtering again, but it wasnt as bad now as it had been because I wasnt as deep in the pit. We were all jumping around and moshing loads, and I tried to record the band singing With You onto my answerphone message, but I later found out that it didnt work :(. oh well never mind, it probably would have scared anyone who got to my answerphone anyway! So I put my phone in Cat's bag, not wanting to loose THAT too. Cat was jumping around as well (which was hard, as her bra strap had broken during the first support act! lol) so it was a bit difficult!

Then they played 'Runaway', which is absolutely amazing. The song has such power to it, and they played it so well. The crowd were getting quite excited now, I don't know how violent they were near the front, but I figured it must have been quite bad.

'Papercut' began, and I noticed the Mike looked a bit distacted when he was rapping, and about 30 seconds in, he stopped. He said something like, 'OK stop guys, we got people passed out and shit'. so the music stops, and Mike says 'Pick them up. Pick them up now.' And he stood there, and repeated it. 'Pick them up'.

He then went on to say that he was amazed at the number of people there, there was like, 12000poeple there. Chester or someone then said, "ok you guys are all beautiful, and I wanna thank you all for coming here tonight, but you are getting a bit violent. We've had a lot of kids being pulled over the front here, and people passing out and not being picked up. and just now one of those bottles of yours hit one of those computers back there. If they get wet they break, and there's no show. So guys, calm down yeh?"

and Mike said "OK, let's start this whole shit again!" and they did. They played Papercut all the way through and no one got hurt any more I hope.
