Hi, I'm Trevor
WELCOME TO MY HOME
Having lived, and often struggled with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and emphysema for over ten years, I often had great difficulty in getting information about my disease. My GP used a lot of big medical words  without going into any real detail, and I ended up going to the local library to find out what it was all about. So now I'm hoping to help other people who are trying to find out what they can do to cope with their condition

What you can do
Due to research at the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, we know that people with COPD  benefit from activities such as walking and cycling, which exercise the lungs and heart. The well established programme, run by Dr. Sally Singh and Dr Mike Morgan, is very effective, and 200 people "graduate" each year.  On average, patients show nearly 50% improvement in standard tests. However, people with chronic obstructive lung are particularly vulnerable to something called physical de-conditioning. Breathlessness leads to physical inactivity. But lack of exercise causes the muscles to lose strength and stamina. The body becomes weaker and the heart and lungs lose capacity.
