This day is upon me once again. It's hard not to feel some sadness today. Yet, I'm comforted by the music, the moments and the memories of this great man. And so, with sadness and much joy I honor everything that is Paul Williams, with this year's tribute to the life and destiny of the late great ultimate Temptation.

Paul in His Prime

It began as just a dream
Into your life with hopes and promises
With a vision to bring
Thought, feelings of love and happiness

The pull of its pulsating beat
The rhythm of its rhyme scheme
With the sound of thunder, yet surprisingly sweet
Making it seem too clear to be a dream

Its journey would have its share of alternate routes
To create, to build and to maintain
Its integrity in an industry so confused
But what is a dream without some source of pain

Without its times of joy and despair
Its vision would be lost
One must be strong in an attempt to steer
Clear of its pitfalls and tragic costs

Sometimes those dreams send you on a different path
Through storms of your own making
Or at the hands of those wishing you feel the wrath
To silence your goal, your dream now theirs for the taking

When I think of you, Paul Williams
And your vision of your dream
Your rode to success
Destined for tragedy it seems
It's hard for me to grasp
What is told to the mass
When I feel I know your heart
Through the emotions you impart

So as I think of you on this day
My thoughts have and will never go astray
As children of God, we have paths all our own
We are loved and guided, until we're finally called home
Paul, your time seemed so short, for those of us who loved
I'm more inclined not to question what is deemed up above

Circle Of Life
From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done.

There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round.

It's the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life.
