Remembering Through the Darkness
I cried
As I ran my hand
Along
The lace of the bear
That you gave me
And the flower pot
That once held a rose
I remembered your voice
The way it quaked
When you laughed
At my jokes
and my mistakes

I remembered
The late night beachfront scene
We shared one late summer night
When we were both completely bored.

I laughed
As I remembered
The way the cotton candy stuck
To your nose at the fair,
Our makeout session in the Ferris wheel,
The way you saved me
From fear
On the "Coaster of Doom."

As I ran my fingers
Against your letterman jacket
I choked back my sob
As I saw us dancing
At prom
You promised yourself to me
Promised your life to me
Gave up your life for mine

I sigh
When I remember
The day you left me
The day we parted
And your life
Was no longer with mine
And vice versa

So now I go on
I try to go on
I can't go on
I won't go on
The window accepted me
The air pasted through me
As the ground came towards me
One thought,
"I love you"
Then,

Darkness!
