Health

Lovebirds are generally healthy and strong, but like most parrots or birds, they can hide an illness.  If you notice any lethargy, unusual quietness or sleepiness for an extended period of time, scant droppings, or poor appetite, please seek medical attention from your veterinarian right away.   A simple gram scale is handy to keep tabs on weight.  It's a good idea to weigh your lovebird at the same time of day whenever you weigh him, to give you an accurate comparison.

If you are going to be bringing a new bird home in the future or bringing any new bird into a home with existing birds, you should quarantine your new bird for a period of 30-45 days. Observe your new bird and make sure he is doing well.  Be sure and take care of the new bird's cage last during this period of time.   You may wish to visit to your veterinarian for a new bird examination.   This will help optimize the health of your existing bird (s) and protect them in the future.
