LOUGH VIEWS
A Childrens Anthology
of
Poetry, Art and Drama

Edited by Adrian Rice
This years project involved nine P6 classes from nine primary schools taken from the Newtownabbey, North Down and Carrickfergus Council areas:

Newtownabbey Borough Council
Whitehouse PS
Glengormley Integrated PS
St. James PS

North Down Borough Council
St. Malachys PS
Bangor Central Integrated PS
Towerview PS

Carrickfergus Borough Council
Carrickfergus Central PS
Acorn Integrated PS
St. Nicholas PS

Loughshore visits and Lagan boat trips were arranged which provided the children with much stimulation for their work.  Having accompanied the children on their trips, the project coordinator and poet Adrian Rice, artists Phil OHanlon and Helen Crossey, and the dramatist/director Molly Freeman, then paid several visits to each school to help the pupils convert their Loughshore experiences into verbal, visual and dramatic form.  The very best of that work now appears in Lough Views

The launch of
Lough Views will take place in the

Main Hall of the University of Ulster, Jordanstown,
on Friday 10th October 2003 at 7pm for 7:30pm.

It promises to be a memorable evening, with guest speakers, poetry readings, scripted poetry performances and a short drama presentation.
(The evening will also celebrate the launch of the website for this Belfast Lough Sea and Shore Environmental/Arts Project: www.geocities.com/loughproject)

Refreshments will be served.  The evening will conclude with a presentation of complimentary copies of
Lough Views to all teachers and children involved in this unique project.
Belfast Lough Sea & Shore (BLSS) are proud to announce the launch of Lough Views, a stunning new anthology of poetry, art and drama composed by schoolchildren from selected primary schools around Belfast Lough.
Edited by poet Adrian Rice, Lough Views is the fifth book publication (Life of the Lough, Sea & Shore, Around the Lough, Exploring the Lough: Creative Activities for the Primary School Classroom) in what is now the fourth year of this exciting BLSS cross-community, environmental and arts project.
