A Haiku by Melissa Lanzilotta

The wind howling by
bringing to life what is dead
a peaceful fall day.

Patches of life seen
in a fields full of sorrow
leaves lie on the ground.

Nature's orchestra
plays music for all to hear
pierced by human sound.

On  a journey they go
where it will end no one knows
leaves blowing by me.

A Poem by Cece Cormier

on a normal day
the morning light
barely filters through
that small space where the eyelids meet

on a normal day
my body screams for movement
some small sign
that life occupies more than my breath

on a normal day
emotions are not crucial to my routine
the demands for seclusion run strong
this desire just a phase of consciousness

on a normal day
worship shared but not understood
kept hidden so secret and still
a ceremonial expression

on  normal day
this path leads to silence
selfishly wondering
why my heart longs to sing
